Securities standby for possible disasters: Home Minister

Kathmadnu, June 18: Minister for Home Affairs Sudhan Gurung has said that preparations are underway, giving a high priority to monsoon disaster preparedness. 

He said this while talking to the media after participating in a meeting on monsoon preparedness and response organized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.

Home Minister said that all the resources of security agencies, including helicopters, will be mobilized to ensure public safety during the national disaster risk incidents such as flood, landslide.  

According to him, security agencies have already been mobilized for disaster management. Rather than a formal inspection, he will work by focusing on the direct protection and rescue work of citizens.

Mechanisms have been prepared in such a way that a timely response can be made during time of possible crisis. 

The policy has been made by preceding by changing the shortcomings of the former government while assimilating the positive work of the previous governments. 

Bearing in mind the disruptions of the transportation owing to flood and landslide in the under-construction road of the East-West Highway, Home Ministry is working in coordination with Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transportation. 

A special digital process (App) has been built which gives information about the location of the dozers and equipment to remove road disruptions at the earliest. This will help to mobilize the equipment’s available in the nearest place when the crisis hits.

Home Minister Gurung said that he has instructed the police and other security agencies to provide citizen-friendly services. 

He said that there will be no compromise on crime control, promotion of good governance and improvement of service quality.

Minister Gurung reinforced the idea of public safety during monsson disaster saying that Ministry is moving ahead with keeping the safety of denizens, disaster preparedness, and effectives of service at high priority.
