Polio vaccination campaign begins in southern Afghanistan

KABUL, July 7 : A polio vaccination campaign began on Tuesday in southern Afghanistan, targeting children under the age of 5 in parts of Kandahar and Helmand provinces, official statements said.

The campaign is being carried out in Kandahar city and Helmand’s Lashkar Gah, as well as in other districts of the provinces, the statements said.

Health authorities have urged families to ensure that all children under the age of 5 receive the oral polio vaccine to help protect them against the crippling disease.
