KATHMANDU: Meteorologists say there will be no immediate improvement in weather conditions, with rain expected across Nepal throughout the week.
Department of Hydrology and Meteorology forecasts the heaviest impact in Gandaki Province, where both rainfall and snowfall are likely in hills and mountains, with chances of heavy precipitation in a few places.
Thunderstorms and moderate rain are expected in many Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Madhesh provinces until Tuesday, with isolated heavy rainfall possible. Lumbini and Sudurpaschim are likely to see lighter rainfall.
Hilly regions will also receive moderate rain through the week, with occasional heavy showers in Gandaki and parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini by Tuesday. Snowfall and rain are likely in Himalayan areas as well.
Rain is already occurring in most provinces except Madhesh and Sudurpaschim, with moderate rainfall currently in Lumbini and Gandaki. Heavy rain is also possible in a few places there today.
Officials have advised the public to check weather updates before planning activities. In the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall—86.6 mm—was recorded in Musikot, Gulmi, with heavy rain also reported in several other locations, including Pokhara and surrounding districts.
