Govt issues directive to control misuse of visit visa: PM Shah

Kathmandu, May 31: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has said a stern directive was issued to control misuse of visit visa.

PM Shah said it in response to a query from Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Khusbu Oli in a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today.

Responding to a question about the government’s announcement to implement a five-percent VAT on consumers using more than 50 units of electricity in a month, the PM said the tax aimed to enhance the capacity of electricity system.

“There is no likelihood of switching to a complete electric era immediately. If each household opts for using electricity for cooking, it will not be borne by the capacities of all transformers and sub-stations,” he justified, adding that government requires budget to develop the capacities of transformers and substations. So, the five percent VAT was introduced.
