Lamjung, June 30: The local authority here has closed vehicular movement along the Besisahar-Chame and the Mid-Hill Highway at night, effective from today.
The District Security Committee meeting held on Monday decided to close the roadways for at least two weeks so that loss to be triggered by monsoon-related disasters would be minimized.
Assistant chief district officer Thamman Singh Gautam informed the Besisahar-Chame roadway would remain closed from 6:00pm to 6:00am every day, while the section of the Mid-Hill Highway from 7:00pm to 5:00am every day.
However, only essential vehicles could be run on these roads. The district administration also apologized to the public for the convenience caused by the disruption in vehicular movement.
The local authority took this decision in the wake of prediction of heavy rainfall which could cause disaster like landslides and floods. The Besisahar-Chame roadway is a major road transport facilitating local activities.
